The $632 million expansion of the Philadelphia Convention Center continues to move ahead: plans have been finalized; state monies have been released for administration fees and property acquisition costs; construction firms have been contacted and contracts have been signed. The expansion, on the drawing board since the late 1990s, would give the Convention Center 50% more exhibit space, allowing it to hold larger conventions and trade shows. Plans provide for the Center to extend to Broad Street, between Arch and Race Streets, with completion slated for late 2008. The Convention Center, which first opened its doors in 1993, is bounded by Arch, Race, 11th, and 13th Streets.
The properties which the City plans to acquire by eminent domain have been identified and many condemnees have already retained our Condemnation Group to represent them. Our clients are illustrated by the colored areas on the map shown above.
