LONG BEACH ISLAND BEACH EXPANSION PROJECT

Municipalities on Long Beach Island, working together with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the State of New Jersey, are moving forward with a plan to expand the beach along most of the island. In order to implement the project, easements will be needed from beachfront property owners for the purpose of dune construction and providing public beach access. The municipalities have already contacted the owners of targeted properties seeking the required easements for dune construction. In addition, the State of New Jersey is requiring Long Beach Township to acquire additional easements to create new public beach access points. If the municipalities cannot acquire these easements voluntarily, they may have to resort to condemnation. In light of the potential impact on ocean views and property values resulting from the new dunes and the easements for public beach access, a number of beachfront owners have already retained our Condemnation Group to protect their rights. Our Condemnation Group is available to assist any owners whose properties are targeted for acquisition.
